Climb Higher Guide

Why Climb Higher matters

In Mine Antarctica, vertical position is everything. PolarMine’s design pitches a simple fantasy — mine Antarctica — then enforces it with temperature. Each meter you gain improves crystal rarity potential and raises cold pressure. The Climb Higher upgrade is the warmth investment that stretches your safe altitude so those rarer bands become farmable instead of lethal.

If you only upgrade pickaxes, you become a very efficient digger who still dies on the approach. If you only upgrade Climb Higher, you can stand in rich bands but clear them slowly. The winning pattern from the Getting Started guide still holds: Climb Higher first when cold is the killer, then Carry More, then the next pickaxe.

Cold, height, and the ~280m early wall

Early accounts commonly feel a hard stop near ~280 meters. Below that band you can experiment. Around and above it, under-leveled warmth starts ticking health down fast enough that greed wipes the haul. Treat 280m as a teaching wall, not a permanent ceiling — every Climb Higher purchase pushes your practical limit upward.

Signals you need more warmth right now:

  • Health drops while you are still mining, not only after falls.
  • You teleport home with a half-empty bag because the cold tick scared you.
  • Teammates on similar pickaxes out-earn you simply by standing higher.

Signals warmth is fine and something else is wrong:

  • You never take cold damage but bag out every two minutes → buy Carry More.
  • You reach the band you want but crystals take forever → buy Power / Mine Size on the tier list.
  • You survive and dig fine but never see rares → fix garden Luck and the group +1 bonus.

How to spend Cash on Climb Higher

  1. Finish a run the moment cold damage outpaces your comfort — do not “one more crystal” into a death.
  2. Sell non-Luck crystals at the Gem Buyer.
  3. Buy the next Climb Higher level before browsing luxury pickaxes.
  4. Test the same route again. If you gained a noticeable safe band, the purchase was correct.
  5. Only then consider Splintered Timber → Chipped Flint style pickaxe bumps.

Cash funnels feel slow until warmth unlocks a denser crystal tier; then income jumps and later Climb Higher levels buy themselves faster. That snowball is intentional.

Routing while warmth is low

  • Take diagonal paths that gain height in short bursts with dig pauses in wind-sheltered notches when the map allows.
  • Mine on the way up and the way down so every meter pays.
  • Save bombs and radars for moments you can actually occupy the highlighted band without freezing.
  • Watch the hourly Mountain RNG reset; a fresh zone can place rich nodes lower than the previous layout.

Fall damage is a separate threat. The No Fall Dmg gamepass exists for a reason, but good jump discipline works free — see the Gamepasses Hub if repeated falls are deleting runs.

Scripts that claim “ignore cold” or auto-climb are exactly the unauthorized tools PolarMine permanently bans. Read the Scripts Hub warning if you were tempted.

Mid-game warmth strategy

Once Reinforced… or Titanium Breaker is in range, players often under-buy Climb Higher because pickaxe names look cooler. Resist that. Mid-game mountains punish complacency: you finally have Mine Size to clear clusters, but clusters sit higher. Keep a rule — any death to cold triggers a warmth purchase before the next pickaxe tier.

Stack free Luck (like + group join + garden) so each warm minute yields better shards. Luck without altitude still farms low tiers; altitude without Luck farms mid tiers more often; both together unlock the screenshots people chase.

Late-game notes

Endgame pickaxes through Genesis Core assume you can occupy the rarest altitudes long enough for Max Mine Size to matter. Climb Higher does not become irrelevant; it becomes the silent enabler behind every Divine / Empyrean / Ultima flex. After patches, confirm warmth behavior on the Updates Hub in case PolarMine retunes cold curves.

Practice plan (one hour)

  1. Record the height where cold damage begins on your current upgrade level.
  2. Run three sell loops that stop 20–30m below that line.
  3. Dump Cash into Climb Higher.
  4. Re-measure the new damage-start height.
  5. Spend leftover Cash on Carry More or the next cheap pickaxe only if the new line feels stable.
  6. On the next hourly reset, push into the newly safe band with a radar if you own one.

Master Climb Higher and the mountain opens. Ignore it and every other guide on this wiki becomes theory.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What does the Climb Higher upgrade do?

It raises your warmth / cold resistance so you can survive higher altitudes where rarer crystals spawn.

Why do I start freezing around 280m?

Early warmth levels cannot handle that altitude yet. Buy more Climb Higher, or mine lower until Cash funds the next warmth tier.

Should I buy Climb Higher or a new pickaxe?

If cold damage ends your runs, buy Climb Higher. If you are warm but digs are slow in a band you can already reach, buy the pickaxe.

Does Carry More replace Climb Higher?

No. Carry More extends bag capacity. It helps after warmth already lets you stay in profitable bands.

Can scripts remove the cold limit?

Some claim to, but PolarMine permanently bans unauthorized software. Upgrade Climb Higher legitimately instead.
