Crystals & Rarity Guide

Height beats depth for rarity

In Mine Antarctica, crystal rarity scales with height, not with how deep you tunnel into a random wall. PolarMine Games built the fantasy around climbing Antarctica: colder, higher bands roll better loot tables, while foothill spam mostly prints commons. If your Index is filling with junk, the fix is usually more Climb Higher warmth and better Mountain RNG timing — not digging a basement under spawn.

This Crystals & Rarity Guide explains how to read tiers, when to sell at the Gem Buyer, when to plant for Luck, and how special tools like Ice Bomb and heavy pickaxes interact with tough targets. Pair it with Garden & Luck, Bombs & Radars, and the Pickaxe Tier List.

Exact Cash values move with balance patches and are shown in-game on tooltips and the Gem Buyer. This wiki does not publish a full crystal price catalog — treat any spreadsheet you found on social media as unverified until the live client agrees.

Reading rarity and the Crystal Filter

Crystals broadly sort into filterable buckets such as Common, Uncommon, and Rare (plus whatever higher tags your current patch shows in the Index). The Crystal Filter exists so you are not drowning in low-value shards when the backpack is the real bottleneck. Use it to:

  • Prefer picking up mid/high rarity while you are still learning sell-vs-plant decisions.
  • Keep inventory KG free for the crystals that actually fund Climb Higher or garden Luck.
  • Reduce “Backpack Full” spam on long routes — see Carry More & Backpack.

Filtering does not create rarity. It only stops you from auto-scooping trash that forces a BASE trip before you finish the rich ledge you climbed for.

Sell at the Gem Buyer vs plant in the garden

Every crystal asks the same question: Cash now or Luck later?

  • Sell at the Gem Buyer when you need Climb Higher, Carry More, or the next pickaxe immediately. Commons and weak Luck tags are usually fuel.
  • Plant in the garden when the crystal advertises strong Luck and you can afford to delay the Cash. Garden composition is covered in depth on Garden & Luck.
  • Hybrid runs work best: sell the bulk, plant the outliers, then reassess after the next hourly mountain.

New players often sell everything, then blame Mountain RNG for “bad rares.” Fix Luck first (garden + like/join PolarMine for +1 Luck), then judge the mountain.

Frost crystals and Ice Bomb

Frost crystals are tied to cold-tool play. Community routes frequently use an Ice Bomb when they specifically want Frost-oriented drops rather than generic foothill commons. Bombs are still consumables — do not waste them below your warmth line or on a mountain you are about to abandon. Full deploy discipline lives in Bombs & Radars.

If Frost shards show high Luck, prefer garden slots over panic selling. If they are marked as plain Cash fillers on your account’s current needs, Gem Buyer them and fund warmth.

Mossite Boulder and pickaxe gates

Not every shiny object is a free LMB snack. Mossite Boulder is a high-HP target players call out around ~308.8K HP, and it effectively wants a serious tool — think Titanium Breaker or better on the pickaxe ladder — before the break time makes sense. Whaling on Mossite with an early Rusted Scrapper / Splintered Timber is how you burn a warm window for nothing.

Rule of thumb:

  1. Check your Power / Mine Size against the boulder’s durability fantasy.
  2. If the swing animation feels like sandpaper, leave and return after a shop upgrade.
  3. If you can break it cleanly, decide sell vs plant before the next node greed wipes your bag space.

Boulder HP and exact rewards can be retuned; confirm in-client after reading the Updates Hub.

How Mountain RNG changes what you see

Each hourly Mountain RNG refresh reshuffles the Antarctic mining zone. Rarer mountain rolls tend to present better crystal opportunities at altitudes your Climb Higher build can actually use. Mid-game climbers sometimes skip low exterior sections via cliff routes to reach those bands sooner — strategy notes sit in Mountain RNG & Hourly Zones and Climb Higher.

Spend radars and bombs on the good hour, not on the leftover fifteen minutes of a mediocre layout.

Practical rarity checklist

  1. Like the game and join PolarMine Games for +1 Luck.
  2. Push altitude only as far as warmth allows.
  3. Turn on Crystal Filter preferences that match your bag size.
  4. BASE teleport before cold or Backpack Full steals the haul.
  5. Gem Buyer the junk; garden the Luck spikes.
  6. Save Ice Bomb / radar uses for Frost goals and confirmed clusters.
  7. Respect Mossite-scale HP gates — upgrade pickaxe first.
  8. Re-check values in-game; do not memorize outdated fan price lists.

What not to do

  • Do not dig endlessly at low altitude hoping depth magically rolls Divine loot.
  • Do not ignore Filter settings then complain that Carry More is “broken.”
  • Do not paste codes from Mine a Mountain or Expedition Antarctica while waiting for crystal luck — they do not work here (Codes Hub, still empty in October 2026).
  • Do not use scripts that claim auto-rarity ESP. PolarMine permanently bans unauthorized software.

Crystals are the language of Mine Antarctica. Learn to read height, Filter, and Gem Buyer vs garden — and the mountain starts answering in rares instead of noise.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does digging deeper increase crystal rarity?

No. In Mine Antarctica, height drives rarity more than depth. Climb with enough Climb Higher warmth instead of tunneling low for “secret” tiers.

What does the Crystal Filter do?

It helps you focus on Common, Uncommon, Rare, and other filterable tiers so low-value shards do not fill your backpack before the good loot.

Should I sell crystals or plant them?

Sell at the Gem Buyer when you need Cash for upgrades. Plant high-Luck crystals in the garden. Check tooltips in-game for current values.

How do I get Frost crystals?

Frost drops are commonly associated with Ice Bomb play and cold-oriented routes. Use bombs when your warmth and bag can actually collect the results.

Why can’t I break the Mossite Boulder?

Mossite Boulder has very high HP (community figure ~308.8K). Bring Titanium Breaker or a stronger pickaxe from the tier list before investing a full warm window.

Where is the full crystal price list?

Sell values live in the game UI and can change with patches. This guide intentionally skips a full catalog so you are not misled by outdated fan sheets.
