How pickaxes work in Mine Antarctica

Your pickaxe is the second half of every profitable run. Power controls how hard each swing hits rock and resistant crystals. Mine Size controls how wide the dig volume is, so higher Mine Size clears tunnels and crystal clusters faster. Cash from the Gem Buyer funds the next shop tier at the Pickaxe Shop in the hub.

You spawn with the Rusted Scrapper. The first real purchase is Splintered Timber at 25 Cash. From Twilight Cleaver upward, Mine Size shows as Max, so late-game shopping is almost pure Power racing toward the Genesis Core at 1 trillion Cash.

Pair this list with the Getting Started upgrade order: buy Climb Higher warmth before dumping every coin into mid-tier pickaxes, then expand Carry More, then climb this ladder. Cold still ends runs near ~280m early even if your Power looks fine on paper — see the Climb Higher guide.

Note: Epic pickaxe #7 appears truncated in-game and in community dumps as Reinforced…. This wiki keeps that truncated label rather than inventing a full name.

Early game tiers (Common → Epic)

Rusted Scrapper → Tempered Steel covers your tutorial and first cold wall. Priorities:

  • Grab Splintered Timber the moment you can — the Power jump from 25 → 45 is free momentum.
  • Chipped Flint and Shadowed Talon smooth crystal clears while you stack Climb Higher levels.
  • Hardened Iron and Tempered Steel are the “stop dying to dig time” picks before Reinforced….
  • Do not skip warmth just to afford Shadowed Talon. Dead runs earn zero Cash.

Plant spare Luck-heavy crystals in the garden instead of selling every common shard. Like the game and join PolarMine Games for +1 Mining Luck before your next shop visit.

Mid game tiers (Epic → Mythic)

Reinforced… through Diamond Fang is where Mine Size starts feeling like a different game. Titanium Breaker breaks the 1,000 Power line; Frostbite Alloy pushes Mine Size past 1,000; Obsidian Carver and Diamond Fang print Cash if you can already survive higher altitudes.

Tips for this band:

  • Sync big purchases with a fresh hourly mountain RNG reset so you mine the new zone on a stronger tool.
  • Use bombs and radars when your bag and warmth can support longer routes.
  • Keep feeding Climb Higher and Carry More — a Diamond Fang with a tiny bag still forces short trips.

Late game tiers (Divine → Ultima)

From Meteorite Edge onward you are optimizing Power after Mine Size caps at Twilight Cleaver. Aurora Alloy, Celestite Crusher, and the Zenith pair (Sunforged Maul, Stormcore Splitter) are long Cash sinks. Infinity and Ultima tools (Voidsteel Reaver → Genesis Core) are prestige flex goals for dedicated grinders and gamepass assisted economies.

Genesis Core sits at 1T Cash, 1,000,000 Power, and Max Mine Size — the top of the published ladder.

Spending priority vs pickaxe greed

A simple decision tree:

  1. If cold damage ends the run → buy Climb Higher.
  2. If the bag fills while you are still warm → buy Carry More.
  3. If digs feel slow on crystals you can already reach → buy the next pickaxe on this list.
  4. If rarity feels cursed → garden Luck + group bonus before panic-buying Divine tools.

Paid multipliers such as 2x Fast Dig, INSTANT Mine Crystal, x2 Crystals, and luck passes change how fast you climb this table — full breakdown on the Gamepasses Hub. Avoid scripts; PolarMine permanently bans unauthorized software.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best pickaxe in Mine Antarctica?

Genesis Core is the top published pickaxe at 1T Cash, 1,000,000 Power, and Max Mine Size. Earlier tiers matter more for normal progression.

Should I buy pickaxes before Climb Higher?

Usually no. Warmth that lets you survive higher altitudes beats raw Power if cold ends your runs first.

When does Mine Size stop increasing?

Mine Size reaches Max starting with Twilight Cleaver. Later pickaxes compete mainly on Power.

What is the Reinforced… pickaxe?

Epic tier #7 costs 43,000 Cash for 600 Power and 338 Mine Size. The in-game name is truncated as Reinforced… in available sources.

How do I earn Cash for the next pickaxe?

Mine crystals, teleport to base, sell at the Gem Buyer, then reinvest. Garden high-Luck crystals instead of selling everything.
